My good friend Michael Slaboch reminded me that it's that time of year again. Chicago Public Radio's Third Coast International Audio Festival competition gets underway by accepting submissions in the Radio Ephemera Short Docs category beginning April 1.
Submission guidelines can be found here.
This year's requirements are very interesting. The audio doc should include the "voice of a stranger," while connecting, in any way the producer desires, the narrative of two of five pre-selected books from the Prelinger Library.
As warmer weather arrives, I plan to strap on the remote kit and hit the streets. There's nothing like the smell of field recording in the morning.
